Got my New Year’s resolution in my Christmas gifts again. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane, shall we? In 2010, I had received a yo-yo in my stocking. Somehow, my brain malfunctioned and I decided that I would learn to be a yo-yo-ing magician, which included learning a card trick, figuring out how to yo-yo without looking like a moron, and learning to juggle. I learned a card trick (which I’ve since forgotten), I can make a yo-yo do boring yo-yo stuff but nothing fancy, and I simply cannot juggle. I have tried and tried and tried again, but all I end up with are squished tangerines. We’ll call this one halfway done. In 2011, Charlie had given me tarot cards and I resolved to learn to use them. I have, but I got a new deck so I’m re-learning. I’d say I know tarot at least well enough to play the gypsy fortune teller at some awesome Halloween party this year.  So for 2012, we have palm reading. Charlie’s mom, Linda, who is the giver of all awesome gifts, sent this to me. And I already found out that based on the lines on my hand, I am logical, emotional, mysterious, and that I have a future journey that will include health problems. Let’s hope it’s not another tooth. Since I decided to use my resolutions to learn fun party tricks, I’ve become a hell of a good time, so let’s hope this year only adds to that. I have just two more resolutions for 2012:  Make sure I have fly nails all year long. I’m starting the year off with this grape and gold number. Any good gypsy fortune teller needs awesome nails. The only serious one, and something I’ve said to myself almost every day for the last year. Be Kind and Be Brave. It’s my little mantra that I tell myself whenever I’m nervous or anxious or just feeling funny about something. All I need to do to get through it with some grace is be kind and be brave. I’m going to stick to that one this year, because it’s only brought me good things.
