Spring in Iran’s Bakhtiari region

When we were growing up and Mom would tell us about her childhood in Iran, I always pictured something dry and brown, sort of desert-like. I don’t know where I got that, but it was always there. I wonder if it had to do with the sepia pictures of that time? Anyway, when I was maybe 10 or so, I saw the first pictures that challenged that idea. They were at my grandparents’ house and there were mountains and even snow and lots of lush valleys. And even though I know it’s not all the arid land I pictured as a kid, I’m still surprised when I see pictures like this. I guess I just have to visit someday and see it for myself to let it really sink in.
